Earlier this week I went to visit the Paint Pots workshop with my friend and fellow barge-painting enthusiast, the artist Amanda Davidson.
It was wonderful to watch Amanda build-up the layers of coloured petals based on the traditional folk-art practice, which uses free-hand brush strokes to create the classic roses, daisies and leaves.
As with all ceramics, the paint colourways are a bit unpredictable as they go on very pale, powdery and matte, but come out vibrant, rich and shiny!! I’m so happy with the end result and can’t wait to use this as a prop in our Hallowe’en story of Baba Yaga.
Here’s the work in progress at the workshop;
And here’s the finished skull fresh out of the kiln!!!
